Green Gore gets gold prize

October 12, 2007 · Leave a Comment

The Nobel Foundation announced today that this year’s Peace Prize will be split between former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Gore will share the $1.5 million prize with the Panel’s 2,500 climate scientists; he will donate his share to the Alliance for Climate Protection.

Gore’s Peace Prize is the result of his Academy Award-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, which raised public awareness of the globe’s current climate crisis. Once again the spotlight is on the former V.P., political critics and analysts are speculating a Presidential candidacy announcement.
